Incumbent • Eureka City Council - Ward 2
1. What is your primary reason for running for this position?
I want to lend my skills and experience to others on the city council to help make Eureka a better place for us all.
2. What is your vision for your city/board of education and how would you help achieve it?
We must be proactive. We must resist the status quo and we must keep moving forward. Small positive steps over time will lead to success and achievement. We must resist sliding backward and insist on policies that move us forward even if ever so small. We must be wise in our decisions.
3. What three issues do you consider to be your “top priorities?” a. Economic development b. Improve infrastructure (streets, water and sewer) c. Housing (new construction and renovation)
4. What background do you have that will help you in this role, if elected?
My financial experience and skills can be an asset to the city. I have 15 years of corporate experience in financial and budget management, and also 33 years as a financial advisor in my own business. I understand both the business and personal sides of finance. I’ve also been involved in the real estate business locally and have experience serving on various boards over the years. I am a graduate of the University of Washington and a CFP.
5. How do you feel the current board/council is doing in their service?
We can always do better, of course. It has been an honor for me to serve 2 years with other council people who love Eureka. They work to make Eureka a better place. They are doing a good job. They deal with difficult issues and they don’t kick the can down theroad.
6. Please list personal information or other information you feel is important.
As a service to the community, I would like to offer, at no charge, my financial skills and experience as a consultant to those who would like to start a local business but worry about the financial risks. This would be for the purpose of encouraging local small business development.
