Jeffrey Marks

Incumbent • Eureka City Council - Ward 3

1. What is your primary reason for running for this position?

I am running for City Council to make sure that residents of Eureka, no matter their background or neighborhood have a voice. Also, I believe in transparency, accountability, and inclusive decision making.

2. What is your vision for your city/board of education and how would you help achieve it?

My vision is for our city to have better infrastructure.

I would achieve this by getting with the council/mayor an city staff to get what is needed. Whether that be equipment, training or guidance.

3. What three issues do you consider to be your “top priorities?” 1. Infrastructure & basic services 2. Using taxpayers money wisely. With transparency, accountability in budgeting.

3. Economic development.

4. What background do you have that will help you in this role, if elected?

Through my career in Highway Maintenance, I have developed skills in problem solving, brining others together to come up with a solution & brainstorming. I’ve been active in my community as a city council member since 2023.

5. How do you feel the current board/council is doing in their service?

I fell the council needs to do better at communicating and being transparent. Also, they need to remember that they are serving the residents of Eureka. For the most part, I feel that in the last 2 1/2 years the council has grown to where they are more supportive on making good decisions.

6. Please list personal information or other information you feel is important.

My wife, Kandy, and I have been residents of Eureka since 1991. We raised 2 children here. Our son, Josh, still lives here. Our daughter, Kristi, lives in SF. We have 2 grandchildren & 2 bonus grandchildren that are being raised in the City of Eureka.
