Fall River City Council Pos. 2

1. What is your primary reason for running for this position?

I am running for the city council position to focus on problems within the community to assist in the reform of our small-town USA. As with any small towns there are problems, i.e. streets, security, law abiding citizens. The problem that I see is there are a few individuals that are being targeted, while others are not required to follow the ordinances. I would like to see fewer ordinances with more transparency.

2. What is your vision for your city/board of education and how would you help achieve it?

My vision for the city is security, community collaboration, to ensure a high quality of life. Implement an open data portal where residences can easily access city’s budget information, meeting minutes and other records. I would assist in accomplishing my vision by using my technical skills that I have mastered over the years.

3. What three issues do you consider to be your “top priorities?” My top priorities would be to implement the KS open meetings act into our community. This community has been left behind in technology information that is readily available to all families either by paper or by electronic means. My last priority is to have more productive meetings, to ensure we are taking those action items and following through with results and not leaving action items open for months.

4. What background do you have that will help you in this role, if elected?

My leadership qualities that I learned while serving in the US Air Force for over 20 years in addition to my skills while working with the Department of Defense for the last 13 years have given me plenty of time to learn how to conduct productive work as a team. I have worked with many diverse personalities to achieve the goals of the team.

5. How do you feel the current board/council is doing in their service?

There have been several personnel changes in the current council. There is always room for improvements. Currently, the city officials need to work on transparency and be accountable for their decisions. The community feels that the current board is not responding to their concerns in a timely matter.

6. Please list personal information or other information you feel is important.

I am a lifelong resident of Fall River, either my parents lived here, or my family have lived here since the early 1900s. My ancestors and parents were farmers and ranchers since the late 1800’s in the Fall River area. I believe everyone needs a voice and change will not happen without positive influence. This community needs a voice at the city meetings, and I want to encourage citizens to be welcomed to the meetings and they should have an opportunity to voice their opinions without judgement from the city officials.
