Girls Team Claimed 2nd Place

The Eureka Cross Country team turned in a strong performance at Eureka’s Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday, Oct. 7, with standout efforts from both the girls’ varsity squad and younger runners across multiple divisions.

Leading the charge for Eureka’s varsity girls in the 5K race was Rose Buck, who captured a 2nd place medal with a time of 20:08.58. Close behind was teammate Britta Mongeau, earning the 3rd place medal at 21:49.57. Additional points came from Reata Bogle (16th, 31:38.81) and Elyssa Wood (17th, 32:17.82), helping the team secure a 2nd place finish overall with a team score of 24.

In the Boys junior varsity 2-Mile, Tavin Aus-tin led Eureka with a 5th place medal and a time of 21:29.04, while Brayden Buck followed in 15th at 24:33.48.

The junior high teams also claimed hardware. In the 7th grade boys 1-Mile, Blake Wells clocked in at 6:39.13, earning 4th place and a medal. Owen Combs finished 14th with a time of 7:25.76.

For the 8th grade boys 2-Mile, Henry Lindamood captured a 9th place medal, finishing in 16:42.23.

Eureka runners will travel to Neodesha this Thursday, Oct. 16, for Tri-Valley League action, beginning at 4 p.m. The high school teams will then compete at 2A Regionals hosted by Wichita-Trinity Academy on Saturday, Oct. 25.
