JH Tornadoes Struggled Against Neodesha

The Eureka Junior High Tornadoes lost to the Neodesha Bluestreaks 6-46 Thursday night. The game began with Eureka starting on their own 25-yard line. After moving the ball to the 47, the drive stalled and Eureka turned the ball over on downs. Neodesha began their series with a 53-yard touchdown pass and the Tornadoes were down 6-0.

On the ensuing kickoff, Tornado Gavin Gonzalez ran 75 yards to tie the game at 6-6.

Neodesha then returned the kickoff to the Tornado 46. On their first play from scrimmage, they scored on a running play and then ran in the conversion, making the score 6-14. Eureka turned the ball over on downs at their own 25 and the ‘Streaks scored again on the first play from scrimmage. The conversion failed but Neodesha held a commanding 6-20 lead.

Eureka again turned the ball over on downs, but forced a fumble on Neodesha’s possession. They were, however, again unable to move the ball and handed it back to the Bluestreaks after four plays. Neodesha scored on their drive, completing the conversion, and thus making the score 6-28. With little more than a minute to halftime, Eureka fumbled the kickoff, setting Neodesha up for a quick touchdown, making the halftime score 6-34.

With a running clock in the second half, Neodesha scored twice more, making the score 6-46.

Eureka was finally able to move the ball on their final drive, but ran out of time with the ball on the Neodesha 5 yard line. The Tornadoes end their season next Thursday at home against Cherryvale. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.

JH Volleyball

Tornado volleyball went 0-4 against the Bluestreaks. Eureka’s A-team fell 16-25, 13-25; B-team lost 14-25, 21-25; C-team fell 25-27, 12-25 and D Team lost 2025, 18-25. Eureka will face Cherryvale at home this Thursday, starting at 4:30 p.m.

The Lady Tornadoes will travel to Humboldt on Tuesday, Oct. 21 for the Tri-Valley Tournament, beginning at 3 p.m.
