Matt Winn

Write-In Candidate • Eureka USD 389 Pos. 4

1. What is your primary reason for running for this position?

My primary reason for running for school board is because I would like to be a part of the change and a voice for the future generations of Tornadoes. I want to let every community member know each child has a voice and it should be taken into consideration when the decisions the school board makes affects both their education and mental health. I also want to help create a school environment that every student and faculty member enjoys and looks forward to being a part of.

2. What is your vision for your city/board of education and how would you help achieve it?

My vision is to be able to work with every school board member while holding myself accountable to help provide an environment where students, faculty, and staff feel heard and plans to be put in place for concerns. I would achieve that by being an active listener for the community where every voice matters from the students to faculty and staff to promote an environment that everyone wants to be a part of.

3. What three issues do you consider to be your “top priorities?” 1. Boosting the moral for the administration, faculty and staff, and students so they are able to provide a more happy, healthy, and cohesive environment for our students. 2. Advocate and adopt a curriculum that is designed to build on what students have learned in previous years.

3. Finance a budget that not only meets but exceeds expectations of those in the community and district.

4. What background do you have that will help you in this role, if elected?

I am not only a 2012 Eureka Tornado graduate but have been in the school district my whole schooling career. I also have two children currently in the district which has driven my desire to be active in their learning endeavors and provide them with a successful future. I am hard working and full of integrity with the desire to persevere in this role.

5. How do you feel the current board/council is doing in their service?

The current school board members are doing an adequate job; however, I feel there is a time for new leaders who bring new ideas and new energy to the table. This ultimately helps build a stronger bond between the school and the community members.

6. Please list personal information or other information you feel is important.
