Hamilton USD 390 Pos. 5
1. What is your primary reason for running for this position?
I’m running for the Hamilton USD 390 School Board because I care deeply about the success of the kids in our community. As a parent of three grade school children, a business professional, and someone active in local youth programs, I understand the vital role strong school leadership plays in shaping responsible, capable young people. I believe in practical, common-sense leadership that focuses on academics, supports our teachers, uses tax dollars wisely, and prepares students for life beyond the classroom.
2. What is your vision for your city/board of education and how would you help achieve it?
My vision is for a school district that delivers a strong, well-rounded education centered on core academics, personal responsibility, and real-world readiness. I believe the current board reflects those values, and I’d be honored to support and build on that foundation. If elected, I’ll bring a grounded perspective shaped by my experience as a business owner and parent. I’ll advocate for multiple pathways to success, whether that’s college, a trade, or agriculture.
3. What three issues do you consider to be your “top priorities?” Strong Academics & Individual Support Focus on core subjects while meeting students where they are—whether they’re college-bound, entering a trade, or need extra help to succeed. School Safety Support practical safety measures that keep students and staff secure, while maintaining a positive learning environment.
Fiscal Responsibility Apply a business-minded approach to budgeting, ensuring taxpayer dollars are used wisely and directly benefit students and classrooms.
4. What background do you have that will help you in this role, if elected?
With more than 14 years of experience leading teams, managing safety initiatives, and overseeing complex budgets, I am committed to applying these skills to ensure our schools remain safe, well-managed, and continuously improving for the success of every student. I have served in numerous volunteer programs including the 4-H Extension Council, Christopher’s Hope Ministry, Greenwood County Cattlewomen, and the Eureka Pro Rodeo. Additionally, I currently serve as a Trustee Board member and as treasurer for my church.
5. How do you feel the current board/council is doing in their service?
I know each of the current board members personally and have a great deal of respect for the time, effort, and thought they put into serving our school. I’m aligned with their values and if elected, I look forward to working alongside them - bringing my own perspective - to support their efforts and contribute in a practical, results-driven way.
6. Please list personal information or other information you feel is important.
Both my husband, Glen, and I were raised in Greenwood County and chose to return here after college to get married and raise our family. We live and ranch in rural Hamilton, where we’ve built a life rooted in faith, hard work, and community. We are members of the Neal Evangelical Free Church, are actively involved in our community, and we feel incredibly blessed to raise our three children here and have them attend school in Hamilton. This community means a great deal to us, and that’s why I’m committed to doing my part to support and strengthen it through our local school.
