With a heavy heart, we would like to announce the passing our Mom, Jo Ann (Day) Shughart. She passed in her home (Eureka, KS) on August 6, 2025.
Jo was born December 12, 1948 in Beaver, OK to Joe and Marie Day. The family moved to Piedmont, Kansas where they farm-steaded. Mom graduated from Howard High School. She spent several years in Topeka, KS working at Joston's Yearbook. She moved back to Eureka where she worked at Greenwood County Hospital, H&R Block, The Eureka Herald and even worked outages for power plants. She loved nature. . . except snakes and bugs! She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and going to the casino.
She created a vibrant and strong family, which we will cherish and continue her legacy. We are forever grateful for the love and support of Willie, Rita, Lela, and Joe – you all were her rock and we couldn’t have done it without you!
She is survived by:
Daughters: Anna, Chris (Ray) and Deanna (Nick); Grandchildren: Buddy, Gavyen, Shelby, Makayla, Eli and Noah; Great-grandchildren: Ryan, Ryker, Zoey, Maverick and Charlotte To our dear Grandma and Grandpa Day— take care of her, until we meet again. Rest in peace, Mom.
Celebration of Life will be held at TNT Catering in Eureka on Saturday, September 20 from 12-2 p.m.
