The Lady Tornadoes hosted their annual volleyball tournament on Saturday, Sept. 13, where they went 2-3 for the day, bringing their overall record to 7-7.
Rose Hill claimed the championship, with Independence placing second.
Coaches were able to vote for student-athletes who were then named to the All-Tournament team. Those being named to the All-Tournament Team included: from Eureka: Hannah Perrier and Madelyn Miller; from Independence: Kaylea Lemos and Katelyn Spender; from Fredonia: Lexyn Bracken and Chloe Compton; from Olpe: Kayla Steinke and from Rose Hill: Addie Rockley.
Against Madison, the Lady Tornadoes claimed the match in two sets, 25-14 and 25-16. Eureka tallied 12 ace serves, 25 kills, 1 block, 24 assists and 35 digs.
Eureka then faced Fredonia where they again claimed the match in two sets. The Lady Tornadoes defeated Fredonia 26-24 and 25-23. They tallied 11 ace serves, 18 kills, 1 block. 18 assists and 46 digs.
Against Independence, the Lady Tornadoes fell 1525 and 14-25. Eureka recorded 3 ace serves, 11 kills, 11 assists and 36 digs.
Eureka battled the Eagles of Olpe in three sets, but lost the match, 22-25, 25-19 and 16-25. The Tornadoes tallied 5 ace serves, 30 kills, 1 block, 29 assists and 73 digs.
The Lady Tornadoes fell to Rose Hill, 14-25 and 1625. Stats from this match were unavailable at the time of publication.
“These girls are growing together with every match. They are learning how to overcome obstacles and find grit when they need it,” stated Head Coach Faith Rucker.
