Just shortly before 8 a.m., last Thursday, Aug. 28, emergency crews were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection, approximately one mile east of Q Road, at the intersection of Pete’s (formerly Tripco).
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), a 2012 Freightliner Box Truck, driven by Yosvany Moreno Rodriguez, 48, of Oklahoma City, Okla., was traveling westbound on Highway 400 and attempted to turn southbound on K-99 and struck a 2025 Ford Transit van, driven by Carlos Perez, 24, of Wichita, who was eastbound on Highway 400.
Rodriguez and Perez, along with two 10-year-old passengers and Mariano Moreno-Orona, 48, had no apparent injuries.
Three passengers in the van were transported with injuries, including a 17-yearold passenger with suspected minor injuries and Mariana Ramirez-Sandoval, 23, of Wichita, with suspected serious injuries, were both transported to Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka. Amparo Puentes-Puentes, 46, of Wichita, was listed with suspected serious injuries and transported to Wesley Medical Center, in Wichita.
