Greenwood County 4-Hers competed at two contests recently where the represented the county well and claimed various hardware.
Inter-State Fair & Rodeo
The Greenwood County 4-H Livestock Sweepstakes Team traveled to Coffeyville on Aug. 15 for some great competition participating in the Inter- State Fair and Rodeo Livestock Judging Contest.
Members of the Senior Team were Hannah Perrier, Cody Johnson, Addison Westerman, Sydney Lindamood and Cort Decker. The Senior Team placed 5th overall and Hannah Perrier finished 7th high individually.
The Intermediate Team of Henry Perrier, Jorja Beeman, Haddie Mae Seaton, Henry Lindamood and Clay Teter had a great day and finished 3rd overall with Beeman 6th high individual.
Kenyon Curry judged individually in the Junior Division.
The Team used the day to help prepare for the upcoming State 4-H Livestock Contests to be held at Kansas State University in Manhattan on Aug. 23-24.
Sweepstakes
The Greenwood County 4-H Livestock Sweepstakes Team traveled to Manhattan on Aug. 23-24 to attend the 2025 Kansas State 4-H Livestock Sweepstakes at Kansas State University.
The team finished third in the Overall Sweepstakes Contest that includes scores from all four events that were held throughout the weekend. The Senior Sweepstakes Team included Johnson, Hannah Perrier, Westerman, Decker, S. Lindamood, Wyatt Hoag and Henry Perrier. In the Individual Overall Sweepstakes Hannah Perrier was third and Johnson was ninth. The Sweepstakes Team is a Senior Division only; they were joined by Intermediate contestants Beeman, H. Lindamood, Seaton, and Curry to compete in the four contests for the weekend.
Results of the four contests are as follows: Quiz Bowl: Johnson, Westerman, Henry Perrier and S. Lindamood: 5th Place Livestock Judging Team: Johnson, Westerman, Hannah Perrier, and Hoag.
Individuals were S. Lindamood, Henry Perrier, Decker, Seaton, and Beeman. Seaton placed ninth high in the Sheep and Goat Division.
Senior Meat Judging Team: Johnson, S. Lindamood, Henry Perrier, and Hoag: 4th Place: Team Placings 4th Place: Retail I.D.
5th Place: Reasons 4th Place: Overall Meat Judging Contest In addition to the team Hannah Perrier, Westerman, and Decker judged as individuals. Hannah Perrier and Westerman were on a previous National Contest Meat Judging Team so their scores were for the Sweepstakes calculations only.

2nd Place: Questions 3rd Place: Overall Contest Individual Intermediate Meat Judging Results: Placings: Seaton: 4th, Henry Lindamood: 7th Retail I.D.:Curry: 9th, Beeman: 10th Questions: Henry Lindamood: 4th, Curry 8th Overall Individual: Seaton: 9th; Curry 10th Livestock Skillathon Team: Hannah Perrier, Westerman, Henry Perrier, and S. Lindamood 4th Place: Practicum 5th Place Overall In addition to the team, Johnson, Beeman, Hoag, Decker, and Henry Lindamood participated in the Livestock Skillathon. Individual results are: Skillathon Exam: Beeman 9th Practicum: Hannah Perrier 4th Overall Individual: Hannah Perrier 5th Johnson and S. Lindamood earned the invitation to tryout for the 2025 Kansas 4-H National All Star Meat Judging Team.
The Team gained valuable experience and knowledge in each contest and had a great weekend in Manhattan.
