The Howard City Council meets bimonthly on the first and third Mondays of the month. The following report was generated from the official minutes of the Aug. 4 meeting, which were approved during their most recent meeting on Aug. 18.
Mayor Richard Clark called the Aug. 4 meeting of the Howard City Council to order at 7:30 p.m. with Council members Martin Hunter, Shilo Crupper, Gary Harrod, Jerrad Pope, and Derek Cookson present. Also present was City Clerk Joanna Hunter.
The council approved the July 21 meeting minutes, and payment of city bills totaling $285,077.58 as presented.
The council also approved to reschedule their Sept. 1 meeting to Wednesday, Sept. 3, in observance of Labor Day.
The appointment of Kristin Hutchison to city attorney was approved by the council. Mayor Clark will make the appointment when agreement is reached.
The council also approved to purchase a security camera with cellular plan.
Other discussion included a battery and battery disconnect needed for the street sweeper; tree damage from latest storm is mostly cleaned up and higher branches in parks will be scheduled to be trimmed as needed; Gravel in washes on lake road need addressed; Annual chlorine burn for water supply is in process; Water utility truck is in for repair; Council will consider a revision on charges for mowing properties in violation of ordinances at a future meeting; Last pool day this year was Aug. 6; Discussion on important services the Howard Senior Center provides, and note that they will begin serving lunches again August 11; RNR and Budget Hearings will be Sept. 3 followed by the regular council meeting; Fabulous Finds on 99 is Sept. 12 & 13; Fall City wide cleanup is scheduled Sept. 20; Fall Homecoming Festival is Oct. 11.
