The Fall River City Council meets monthly on the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. The following report was generated from the approved minutes of the July 9 meeting, which were approved at a recent meeting.
The Fall River City Council held their regular monthly meeting on July 9 at 7 p.m. The council approved the minutes of the June 11 meeting, Treasurer’s Report and the bills list. During the Treasurer’s Report, the council approved to research the MAP Setoff program regarding residents that do not pay promptly.
During council reports, it was reported that the street department had spread gravel on East and Greenwood Streets. It was also noted that all future requests for road/street work need to me requested through City Hall. After discussion, the council approved to purchase six bags of cold patch.
During the Water/Sewer report, it was noted that the water tower would be cleaned on July 15. In preparation of the cleaning, water will be drawn down the tower and the City of Fall River will get water directly from the line from Fredonia. Also discussed was sludge in the sewer lagoon that may need to be cleaned in the future. The following purchases were made: Three water meter setters at $225.17 each and three boards to repair erosion damage at the base of the water tower for a total of $91.14. The council approved to contract with Metro Courier for water samples at a cost of $27.44 per box.
Other department reports were given by Fire, Library and the Public Enforcement Officer.
In new business, the council approved to have City Attorney William Mc-Clendon research if an Indecency Ordinance would be appropriate for Fall River. McClendon agreed to research the need and types of ordinances and report back to the council. Other items discussed were trees growing low over streets and compiling a list to request quotes and utility rates and the need to be proactive.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:53 p.m. The next meeting of the City of Fall River will be held on Sep. 10 at 7 p.m.
