The Greenwood County 4-H Archery Club will host a state qualifier A this Saturday, Aug. 16, at the Eureka Lake dam. A small portion of the walking trail to the north of the spillway will be closed during the event from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. Participants will compete in a FITA and 3D contest.
Spectators are welcome to attend. Those attending should bring a lawn chair, bug spray, sunscreen, possibly a shade apparatus and water for hydration.
The event will start at 9 a.m. with FITA matches, where archers can score a max of 240 points. Qualifying scores include: Recurve: 120 points and Olympic: 140. In Compound qualifying scores are as follows: Hunter Class: 200; Open Class: 210.
A family fun 3D shoot will also be held for anyone ages 9 and up. 4-Hers participating in the FITA match may participate in the 3D match for free. Family members may participate in the 3D match with on-site registration for $5 per shooter. All 3D scorecards must be turned in by 1 p.m.
Awards will follow with the top three in all disciplines and age groups, including 3D.
Those scoring qualifying scores will advance to the Kansas 4-H State Archery contest at T.H.E. Archery Club, in Wakarusa on Saturday, Sept. 20.
Concessions will be available at the qualifi - er and will benefit the Green- wood County 4 - H Ar c h e ry Club.
