County Livestock Sale Brought $ 140,900 In Premium Dollars

A total of 77 animals entered the sale ring on Monday, July 28, during the annual 4-H/FFA Livestock Premium Sale, averaging more than $1,825 per head.

Buyers came through strong, as the 4-H and FFA members earned premium dollars ranging from $1,000 - $3,800 for their livestock projects (sheep, goat, beef and swine), with total premiums at the sale reaching $140,900, more than $24,900 higher than last year’s sale.

The 7 swine brought $15,800 in premium dollars. The 23 beef brought $49,400; the 29 goats brought $47,100 and the 18 sheep brought $28,600.

The sale was sponsored by the Greenwood County Cattlemen’s Association.

SWINE

Lylly Stapleford, FM, sold the Grand Champion Swine to PGM LLC, Brian McCoy, for $2,500.
