The third annual “Challenge of Champions” was held on Monday, July 28 with Cody Johnson of the Harmony Sunflowers 4-H Club receiving top honors.
With winning the county level, Johnson will have the opportunity to compete at the state level for a $2,250 scholarship, at the Challenge of Champions, hosted by the Kansas Fair & Festivals Association at the Kansas State Fair in September. In the event Johnson is unable to participate, Hannah Perrier of the Racing Wranglers 4-H Club will serve as an alternate. Perrier was named as the Reserve Grand Champion during the local contest.
Participants must be between the ages of 16-19 (as of January of this year) to compete. Plans are for the event to continue in Greenwood County and will be held on the Monday of the fair.
