National Night Out is an annual event that strengthens police-community partnerships and promotes safer neighborhoods. The Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office invites all residents to join this year’s celebration on Tuesday, August 5, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Eureka City Park, also known as Riverside Park.
Part of the 42nd Annual National Night Out, this event is held nationwide in over 17,000 communities to promote crime and drug prevention. It’s sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office. The event provides an opportunity to connect with neighbors, meet local law enforcement, and support a safer community.
The evening will feature a wide range of family-friendly activities, including: K-9 demonstration, Face painting, Dunk tank, Inflatables, Fire truck hose down and exploration of EMS, fire, and police vehicles.
A DJ will provide music and entertainment, and the splash pad will be open for kids to enjoy. The Kansas Highway Patrol and Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks will also be present for community engagement.
Free treats will be available, including ice pops, ice cream, hot dogs, and popcorn.
Sheriff Heath Samuels emphasized the value of the event, stating: “This event provides a great opportunity to bring law enforcement and neighbors together under positive circumstances. It allows our office to reciprocate the support the community has shown us throughout the year.”
With millions participating nationwide, National Night Out continues to be a powerful tool for fostering stronger, safer, and more united communities. The Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office encourages all residents to attend and be part of this nationwide effort.
