Greenwood County was represented at an international competition recently as Madison’s Casey Helm competed at the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games, in Bochum, Germany.
The summer games were held from July 16-27 with around 8,500 student-athletes and officials from over 150 countries competed for medals in 18 sports.
With a powerful throw of 58.99 meters, Helm finished just shy of the podium, placing fourth at the international contest.
He is now training for the USA Championships in Eugene, Ore. next week. Helm, a graduate of Madison High School, will be a senior at Princeton this fall. He is the All-Time discus record holder at Princeton, two time 2nd team All-American, 2nd best discus mark in Ivy League history, won the 2025 Penn Relays Championship section of the discus and was awarded the Outstanding Field athlete of the Meet. Helm is also among the All-Academic Athletes of the 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s Track and Field.
