Lila Louise Wunderlich, 91, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2025. Lila was born on Monday, February 19, 1934 in Higgins, Texas to Paul Roger and Opal (Brown) Meisch. Lila was united in marriage to James William Wunderlich on April 22, 1961. They were married for 53 years until his passing in 2014. Lila started Jim & Lila’s Café with her husband and they owned and operated the Café for 62 years.
Lila enjoyed spending time gardening, canning, fishing, and cooking. Most of all she loved spending time with family especially having family over on Sunday’s for dinner.
Lila is survived by her daughters, Carolyn (Roger) Baumgartel of Emporia, Becky Courter of Piedmont, and Annette Wells of Piedmont; grandchildren, Michelle (Kevin) Weber of Howard, Melissa (Jeremy) Headley of El Dorado, Staci (Troy) Sullivan of Americus, Erin Reber of Emporia, and Larami (Chris) Crum of Emporia; great-grandchildren, Faith, Tanner, Colter, Reagan, Storme, Jace, Kylee, Abbie, Gerek, Greyson, Gunner, Jake, Dakota, Carson and Canon; great-great-grandchildren, Maudie, Corbin, Josias, Autumn, Baker, Hayden, Aidan and Adrian; brothers, Frank (Lynda) Meisch of Chanute and Roland (Leisa) Meisch of Howard.
Lila is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Randy Wells and Lynn Wells; granddaughter, Kristy and grandson-in-law, Gary Chamberlain; brothers, Bud Meisch and W.F. Meisch; and sisters, Sally Barnaby and Dorothy Disney.
Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Monday, July 28 with services starting at 10 a.m. at the Piedmont Gymnasium. Private family graveside to follow.
The family wishes Memorial Contributions be made out to the Lila Wunderlich Grandchildren Scholarship, left in care of the Dunsford Funeral Home.
