
Glynda Ruth Powe, 88 of Iola, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at the home of Matt and Gina Powe.
Glynda was born on January 12, 1937 in Lone Grove, Oklahoma to Albert and Adalee Tucker. She and her husband David Jackson moved to Eureka, Kansas in December 1953 from Oklahoma. Three daughters were born of this union, which later ended in divorce.
On January 14, 1972 she was united in marriage to Robert (Bob) Powe. They had one son, Matthew.
Glynda and Bob always had a large garden on their farm near Piedmont, KS, and she spent many hours every summer canning vegetables and taking care of their large yard. She enjoyed any activity if she was outside and was also an avid reader. She cherished family get-togethers around the holidays, and everyone knew to stay out of the kitchen when she was cooking!
After retirement, her and Bob spent several years traveling with their fifth wheel across the country. They enjoyed attending Bluegrass festivals during this time as well. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Iola, KS.
Glynda is survived by her two daughters, Paula Milner (Tony) of Emporia, KS, Sherry Trevino of Corpus Christie, TX, and one son, Matthew Powe (Gina) of Colony, KS; 10 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; daughter, Kimberly Burtin; step-daughter, Sharon Adams; step-sons, John Powe and Ronald Powe; and one step-grandson, Ted Powe.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US-54, Iola, KS. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 31 at First Christian Church, 1608 Oregon Road Iola, KS, with a meal following for family. Graveside burial will take place at 2 p.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery, Eureka, KS.
