Recognized As Community Member Of The Month
Connie Mitchell

Last Friday, July 18, Eureka resident Connie Mitchell was recognized as “Community Member of the Month” for her continued efforts in serving the community.

Mitchell was nominated for her community efforts that have spanned over four decades. She retired as the director at Eureka Public Library after 44 years of service.

Mitchell is the first to receive the monthly honor in 2025 and will now be eligible for “Community Member of the Year,” which will be voted on by community residents in December 2025 and January 2026.

About Community Member OfThe Month The monthly and yearly honors were created with hopes of bringing positive vibes to the community.

Lo-Mar Drive-In and The Eureka Herald started a monthly feature that showcases the works of those that give back to the nearby communities, beginning in 2021. It is hoped that the positive vibes will multiply and the community will see many “pay it forward.”

“After hearing negative comments regarding the monthly honor, we took a step back,” stated Robin Wunderlich. “Are goal is to showcase those who go above and beyond in their efforts and Connie was a perfect recipient to push us to get this award going again,” she stated.
