During a brief meeting on Monday, July 14, the Eureka City Council approved an agreement to pay JEO Consulting Group $25,000 for professional services concerning 1st Street Improvements under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). JEO had provided a scope of services agreement regarding the intended work. A scope of services agreement, also known as a scope of work or statement of work, is a contract that outlines the specific tasks, deliverables, and expectations for a service provider in a project or ongoing engagement. The improvements on West 1st Street will include removing and replacing the existing pavement.
The council heard several code enforcement resolutions. Resolution 25-16 was approved for the garage at 321 S. School Street to be razed and removed. Code Enforcement Officer Steve French stated that the house is redeemable, but the garage must come down due to unsafe conditions. Resolution 25-17 was approved for the house at 306 S. State Street to be razed or removed due to unsafe conditions. The owner of the structure, which was damaged in a tornado, attended the city council meeting to acknowledge his agreement with the resolution. Resolution 25-18 was approved to raze and remove the structure at 214 S. State Street, also due to unsafe conditions.
