The Fall River City Council meets monthly on the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. The following report was generated from the approved minutes of the June 11 meeting minutes, which were approved at a recent meeting.
The Fall River City Council held their regular meeting on June 11 at 7 p.m. During the Streets report, it was noted that gravel will be hauled in for East Street and on Greenwood Street between Cliff and West Streets. Now that cold patch material is in, potholes in the pavement will begin getting fixed. Several additional areas were noted as needing patched. Other items discussed were two Dead End signs that should be received by Greenwood County soon and Water Manager/Fire Chief John Schouten fixing the street/ stop sign at Greenwood and Traders Ave. that was damaged.
Reports were heard from the Water/Sewer Department, regarding lead and copper testing, and the Public Enforcement Officer.
The April 9 meeting minutes, Treasurer’s Report and Bills were approved.
Council member Sue York gave a report on library events. The following events were noted: “Feed Our City” burger and hot dog event to be held on June 21 and Priscilla Howe to present her comedy program while reading books on July 25.
A short report was given regarding funds raised for Happy Hour during the Grand Opening that was held. After removing the dropped ceiling, it was noted that the walls need to be painted and the surfaces may need to be sealed first.
Also discussed was sending a letter to the owner of the property at 710 Traders Ave. regarding cleanup.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:26 p.m. A meeting was also held on July 9. The next meeting of the Fall River City Council will be held on August 13 at 7 p.m.
