A total of 92 archers from across the region gathered last weekend for the Kansas State ASA (Archery Shooters Association) Competition, taking place on July 12 and 13, at the Eureka Archery Club, located at 2100 S Road, in Eureka.
The two-day event featured championship shoots, as archers aimed for accuracy on a 3D target course designed to simulate real hunting scenarios. The 30-target course was set up with a variety of targets—ranging from deer to smaller game—and presents unique challenges in judging distance and shot placement.
Representing Eureka Archery Club at the event were: pictured at right from left to right, Curtis Geary, Matt Barnhardt, Donna Geary, Jeremy Wharton, Brad Boulanger, Tammy Barnhardt, Clint Behrens, Camden Wunderlich and Chason Gulick.
Eureka Archery Club’s Wunderlich, Gulick, M. Barnhart and D. Geary claimed championships in their divisions.
Behrens and T. Barnhart were named runners- up, while Wharton and Boulanger placed third and C. Geary placed fourth in their divisions.
Competitors competed in 27 ASA divisions with belt buckles being awarded to top shots in each. Plaques were also awarded in various classes for second and third place finishers.
The Kansas State ASA championship was the final of the 2025 series for Kansas with Shooter Of The Year also being presented to multiple archers, including Eureka’s Wunderlich who claimed the honor in the Youth Pins Boys division.
The state championship brought archers from across Kansas, Oklahoma and Missouri.
“We’re excited to have welcomed so many archers to Eureka,” said Kansas ASA Director Boulanger. “With the turnout this weekend, the 2025 state shoot was the largest turnout in state history, with 92 competitors,” stated Boulanger.
“This event gives people a chance to test their skills in a professional setting, but it also builds lasting connections between people who love the sport,” he continued.
The state event will return to Salthawk Archery in Hutchinson in 2026.
Several members from the Kansas ASA family plan to continue their 2025 season and will travel to Oklahoma for their state championship this weekend and to Missouri next weekend.
Complete results from the Kansas State ASA championship will be posted later this week to the state’s Facebook page.
