The Ignite Building (formerly the American Legion Hall) was a busy place Saturday morning with two dozen women showing up for “Paint & Sip” sponsored by the Toronto Library and Mel Roeder from Getty’s 76.
Roeder instructed the group on how to paint, ala Bob Ross. It was not only a lot of fun, it was neat to see how 24 women had the same paint colors and shown how to paint a specific scene, yet no two paintings were the same.
Jessie Hoag, the Toronto Librarian, said they will have another paint class in the near future. Many who didn’t make it this time will have the first chance at a spot for the next class. Even if you think you can’t paint, you should sign up and give it a try. You might surprise yourself.
What is “Phantasmagoria?” Wade is now home. Physical therapy was successful. I don’t know who was happier that he was back home, Wade, the two dogs or me.
We offer our sympathy to the family of Clint Tracy. We offer our sympathy to all others who lost loved ones this past week. May they all rest in peace.
I saw a cool playground ride for adults on Facebook the other day. It’s basic design was the May pole from days gone by. Only this one has four seats spaced evenly around the pole. Somebody twists the seats around the pole several times and holds it in place while three riders get on.
Then he or she gives it a few more twists, hooks it to a nearby tree via a rope and climbs on board. After he or she gets situated, they unhook the rope and the thing starts spinning. I don’t know how long it takes to unwind and come to a halt, it didn’t show that. But it sure looked like something fun.
Safety regulations would probably ban it, but it sure looked fun. So many fun things from the past have been deemed unsafe. Remember the school playground, monkey bars, metal slides, teeter totters, and the beloved merry-goround that you could stand in the middle of and push? How’d we ever survive childhood?
The Toronto Booster Club and Toronto Alumni are raising money for new playground equipment where the old building stood. Big plans are in the works for making it a fun place to hang out outside with family and friends of all ages. I reckon everyone reading this has memories, be them good or bad, of playing on the school playground. I know I do.
Answer: A sequence of real or imaginary images like those seen in a dream. For example “ The northern lights painted a natural phantasmagoria across the sky.”
