Eddie Engle

Edwin Ralph Engle, Jr., who lived and worked the land he loved in Reece, went home to rest on Saturday, June 28, 2025, right there on his beloved farm near Reece, at the age of 64.

Born on July 23, 1960, in Wichita, to Edwin Ralph, Sr., and Barbara Ann (Miller) Engle, Eddie’s path in life was also shaped by being lovingly raised by his dad, Floyd Austin Hagins, Jr. His early years were spent growing up in Olpe, attending local schools before the family moved on to western Kansas. He proudly graduated from Jetmore High School with the Class of 1978. His working life began at the Dieker’s in Strong City, eventually leading him to a position at the refinery in El Dorado. Through those years, Matfield Green was where he mostly called home. In 2008, he found his permanent home in Reece. It was here that he met his future partner, Chris. He retired in September 2017. Retirement didn’t slow him down; he turned his hand to growing and selling produce, and it wasn’t long before everyone knew “Engle Farms” was the place to go for fresh goods.
