The Eureka United Methodist Church (UMC) will be hosting a Grief Recovery Group, for those of us dealing with loss of any kind including loss of: health, a loved one, life as we have known it, personal safety and other losses.
The group was scheduled to meet on Tuesday, July 8 and again Thursday, July 24, at 5:30 p.m.
Reverend Linda Pope and Richard Hoover will be leading the group, which will meet on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at the church. The group will be using the Grief Recovery Hand- book, which will be available for purchase. As many folks don’t feel like reading a book during grief, the group meeting does not require reading of the book.
“Our Society is illequipped to help us grieve to an appropriate conclusion,” stated Reverend Pope. Grief Recovery means, among other things: • Feeling better; • Claiming your circumstances, rather than letting them claim you and your happiness; • Finding new meaning for living without the fear of being hurt again; • Acknowledging that it is perfectly all right to feel sad from time to time and talk about those feelings no matter how those around you react; • Being able to forgive others when they say or do things that you know are based on their lack of understanding about grief.
All are welcome to join the group.
