Russell’s Rugrats Claimed Eureka In Eureka Title
Street Scavengers

The annual Eureka In Eureka event was held on Friday, July 4 from 2-4 p.m. The scavenger hunt throughout the city limits of Eureka, (including the cemetery), had 52 questions to answer this year. A total of nine teams picked up packets, with seven returning to find out who won. The winning team, Russell’s Rugrats (Amanda Duerksen, Russell Hewitt, Chelsey Brodie, Cody Gabriel and Natalie Pennington) had 33 correct answers. They will be in charge of the event in 2026. Second place went to Street Scavengers (Matt, LeAnne, Kaydenn and Korbynn Winn and Diana Sutton) with 28 correct answers; and third place went to Wade’s Fireworks (Paige Neighbors, Mica Coulter, Chavis Koenig, Lane Neighbors and Brad Bohl) with 26 correct answers. The Masonic Lodge of Eureka provided the prize money; with added prizes this year from Wade’s Fireworks (fireworks), and Lo-Mar Drive-In and Pizza Hut each provided gift certificates.

The Wards/Hurleys put the 2025 event together and are hopeful the event will continue to grow each year. Organizer Rhonda Ward suggests community member begin looking around Eureka for unique things that could be on next year’s scavenger hunt.
