The Howard City Council meets bimonthly on the first and third Mondays of the month. The following report was generated from the official minutes of the May 19 meeting, which were approved during their most recent meeting on June 2.
Mayor Richard Clark called the May 19 Howard City Council meeting to order with council members Martin Hunter, Shilo Crupper, Gary Harrod, Derek Cookson and Jerrad Pope present. City Clerk Joanna Hunter was also present.
The council unanimously approved the May 5 meeting minutes; payment of city bills $4,483.96; to donate $250 to the Patriot Ball Club; and approved Robert Jerome to fill the empty position to complete the term as one of two delegates for the City of Howard to Elk County Council on Aging Board of Directors for the years 20222025; as presented.
Other discussion included: the clerk will continue to research options for a new play structure at Jackson Park; The council will request KDHE schedule the wastewater lagoons for sludge judge test and then the council to consider enzyme addition at a later meeting; Pool preparation, cleaning and filling. Opening date was planned for May 24 and tentative closing Aug. 9; Pool warranty patching was done on May 17 and the city will document excessive water use this season; Areas of concern for street repair; Code compliance officer is scheduling court dates; City attorney retirement in the future; Fireworks display donations being requested; PWWSD#23 meeting minutes; and Library Board meeting minutes.
