Livestock Team Traveled To Southeast Area Contest

The Greenwood County 4-H Livestock Team traveled to the Southeast Area Contest on Tuesday, June 3 in Iola. The team, made up of 14 Greenwood County youth, participated in three contests for the day.

The morning began with the Meat Judging Contest. Two Junior Teams and one Senior Team evaluated two classes, retail identification, and answered questions on one class.

The senior team, comprised of Cody Johnson, Sydney Lindamood, Henry Perrier and Wyatt Hoag, claimed first place. As individuals, Johnson was first place overall; S. Lindamood was 5th; Henry Perrier was 6th; Cort Decker was 7th and W. Hoag was 10th.

The junior team, comprised of Kenyon Curry, Jorja Beeman, Henry Lindamood and Haddie Mae Seaton, also received first place honors.

Another junior team for Greenwood County, comprised of Gracelynn Stock, Clay Teter and Peyton Hoag, claimed second place honors. Individual finishes in the junior division were as follows: H. Lindamood, 1st; Curry, 2nd; Beeman, 3rd; Seaton, 5th; Stock, 7th; P. Hoag, 8th; and Teter, 9th.

Four Greenwood County teams completed the Livestock Skillathon Contest. The Senior Team of Henry Perrier, Decker and W. Hoag placed 1st.

The additional senior team was made up of Hannah Perrier, S. Lindamood, and Addison Westerman. As individuals, Hannah Perrier claimed first place; Henry Perrier claimed second place; Decker was third and W. Hoag placed 10th.

The junior team of Beeman, H. Lindamood, Seaton and Curry were 1st place.

The additional Junior Team competing had members Stock, Teter and P. Hoag. Individual junior results placed Beeman, 3rd; and Curry, 5th.

Four Teams also competed in the Livestock Judging Contest. The senior team of Hannah Perrier, Westerman, Johnson, and Henry Perrier finished the day in first Place.

The additional Senior Team was made up of W. Hoag, S. Lindamood and Decker finished 3rd. As individuals, Hannah Perrier placed 2nd; Westerman placed 5th; W. Hoag placed 7th and Henry Perrier placed 10th.

The junior livestock judging team of Seaton, Beeman, H. Lindamood and Curry placed 1st. Team members Teter, Stock and P. Hoag placed 8th. Individual junior results included a second place finish for Seaton and an 8th place finish for H. Lindamood.

“The Greenwood County team had a great day. They will continue to work hard to improve and prepare for the State 4-H Livestock Sweepstakes to be held in August,” stated Carla Davis.

The Southeast Area Contests were organized and executed by the Kansas State Extension Professionals of the Southeast District. Without their hard work, this day would not be possible for 4-Hers.
