Here we are in June. One month from now will be Toronto Day’s. Big changes are coming for this year’s Toronto Day’s. The parade will not be until 6 p.m. All the usual Saturday morning activities have been moved to 6 p.m. The beloved Mud Volleyball has been moved to 10 a.m.
Be sure to check out Toronto Booster Club’s Facebook page and/or watch for flyers put up around town. Everything is at different times on Saturday so be in the know.
Which president ate steak every morning for breakfast?
Hello to all in area nursing and assisted living facilities. Hello also to all in area hospitals and rehab centers.
We offer our sympathy to all who lost loved ones this past week. May they all rest in peace.
We’ve had an abundance of rain recently and more is expected this week. According to the weatherman, the spring rainy season is about over and we will have occasional storms throughout the summer. We’ll see, after all rain is expected every day this week.
They must have gotten lots of complaints about the stoplights north of town. The wait time this past week has been a reasonable 3-4 minutes. I probably just jinxed it by saying that. I hope not.
It’s great to actually see progress being made on the bridge. The handrail on the west side looks good and the road bed part of the bridge looks good for that side. Will we see construction move along a little faster now? I know we all certainly hope so.
Answer: William Howard Taft is notorious for being one of the more portly presidents in history, so it should come as no surprise that he consumed a substantial breakfast each morning. Taft began each day with a doctor- prescribed workout with a personal trainer in his private quarters, which he followed with breakfast at precisely 8:30 a.m. His usual meal consisted of a 12-ounce steak, plenty of buttered toast, and coffee loaded with large amounts of cream and sugar. You’d never find eggs on Taft’s plate, however, as they were one of the few foods he despised. As Taft got older, he eventually cut back to just a 6-ounce serving of steak for breakfast.
I don’t like to be known as a grumpy old woman, but people zipping around town on those side-byside four wheelers need to be reminded of the speed limits here in town. I was taught that all vehicles, 2-wheeled, 3-wheeled, 4- wheeled, etc., were to follow the set rules of the road. Many cars and pickups are just as bad.
I don’t know, maybe I’m wrong, but zipping around at the speeds in which many drive them is way too fast on the streets of town. If they don’t have speedometers on them, they should. But I guess, in all honesty, that will not slow them down. It seems they think they are above the law.
If you have children, tell them to slow down and look twice before crossing a road or going through an intersection. This simple reminder could save a life!
