Eureka sophomore Mason Hughes capped off his season on Tuesday, May 27 at the 2A State Golf Tournament, held at Turkey Creek Golf Course in McPherson. Competing against the top players in the classification, Hughes posted an 18-hole score of 89 (+19).
Hughes missed the cut to advance to Day 2 by just three strokes, as the cutoff score was +16. Under the tournament format, the top six team scores automatically qualify for the second day, along with the top individuals not on those teams, to form a 54-player field.
This was Hughes’ second state appearance.
