The Fall River City Council meets monthly on the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. The following report was generated from the approved minutes of the April 9 meeting minutes, which were approved at a recent meeting.
The regular meeting of the Fall River City Council was held at 7 p.m. on April 9. The March 12 meeting minutes and bills were approved.
During the Treasurer’s Report, the council was presented with a new financial report that gave better detail on the city’s utilities and the current financial status. The council was asked to provide feedback. The Treasurer’s Report was approved.
Department reports for Streets and Fire were presented. It was noted during the Public Enforcement Officer report that Crystal Thomas has resigned and Treasurer Cathy Ivey will assume the Public Enforcement Role. Treasurer Ivey reported that the city-wide cleanup dumpster had been delivered.
Council member Sue York reported that the Library is planning a Hot Dog roast in June, however a date has not been decided. The Library also received a donation of $200 plus another payment for survey participation of $1,044 that will pay for new library chairs.
During New Business, Council member York reported that the American flags are on their way and funds were raised to cover the cost. Also noted was a broken teeter totter at the playground that will be fixed.
After discussion on insurance, the council approved to pay the current insurance. Treasurer Ivey reported that an $18,000 bond payment is due this month.
The council approved to purchase six bags of cold asphalt patch for potholes at $14.75 per bag.
The council also discussed two properties that will be sold at the next tax sale and options for maintaining the yard.
An executive session was held for ten minutes (no subject or justification were given and it was not noted who attended the executive session). After returning to open session, no decisions were made.
