Lady Tornadoes Conclude Season At Regional Opener

The Eureka Tornado softball team closed out their season Monday, May 19 in the opening round of the 2-1A Rosalia- Flinthills Regionals, falling 1-11 to Southern Lyon County.

After a tightly contested start, Eureka trailed by just three runs heading into the fifth. But a seven-run outburst from Southern Lyon County broke the game open, ending the Tornadoes’ postseason hopes.

Eureka’s lone run came in the third inning, driven in by Laynie Winfrey, scoring Madelyn Miller. Elyssa Wood recorded the only hit for the Lady Tornadoes, going 1-for-2 at the plate.

Raylee Boles pitched four and two-thirds innings, allowing 10 hits and 11 runs (six earned), while striking out two.

With the loss, Eureka concludes the season with a 9-10 record.

“We made good strides this season, improving both defensively and offensively as a team compared to last year,” stated head coach Scott Miller. “A big shoutout to the seniors for the work and time they put in throughout the season,” he concluded.
