Greenwood County Hospital (GWCH) recently announced that it has hired two APRNs to serve at GWCH.
Gale Crouch, APRN, will serve in the role of hospitalist beginning June 2. Crouch is a veteran nurse of GWCH with more than 20 years of experience at the hospital and resides in Eureka.
In her new role as hospitalist, Gale’s primary focus will be on managing the care of hospitalized patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and discharge planning.
“We are very pleased to have Gale working as a member of our medical staff here at GWCH,” said Sandra Dickerson, CEO. “Gale brings a wealth of experience and knowledge with her from her time as a nurse working the inpatient floor at GWCH. She has dedicated her career to serving patients with compassion and excellence in care. She will continue to bring that level of dedication to her new role as hospitalist.”
Crouch has expressed her excitement and enthusiasm for her new role. “I’m honored to serve this community and I will do my best for the patients,” commented Crouch.
Additionally, Carey Hurt, APRN, will serve as a parttime provider in the Eureka Clinic. Carey will begin her role as a primary care provider (PCP) in the Eureka Clinic on June 16. Hurt is a southeast Kansas native currently residing in Howard. Hurt comes to GWCH from the Moline Clinic.

Hurt previously worked at GWCH in its rural health clinic (RHC) previously known as Bluestem Clinic.
“We are thrilled that Carey has decided to return to the clinic here at GWCH. Carey is a knowledgeable, seasoned PCP and will be an excellent addition to our Eureka Clinic staff and GWCH medical staff,” noted Dickerson.
“I am very eager to rejoin the Eureka Clinic and Greenwood County Hospital, where I began my nursing career in 1997. I look forward to being part of this incredible team of professionals and am so thankful for this opportunity,” said Hurt.
Hurt will be working Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Individuals interested in scheduling appointments with Hurt in the Eureka Clinic can call the clinic at 620-5835274. (Courtesy photos)
