Eureka Baseball Grabbed First Win Of Season At Regionals

The Eureka baseball team capped their season with hard-fought games at the 2-1A Dexter Regional Tournament at Sedan on Friday, May 16. The Tornadoes earned their first win of the year in an 8-7 thriller over West Elk before falling to second-seeded Sedan, 2-15.

Eureka jumped out to a five-run lead by the fourth inning and held off a late rally by West Elk to claim a long-awaited victory. Solid pitching and aggressive base running were key as the Tornadoes stole 13 bases and collected 10 hits.

Dalton Pool pitched five innings, allowing just three earned runs while striking out nine. He also reached base twice and was one of three Tornadoes— along with Tanner Biering and Jean-Philippe Guillaume—to swipe multiple bags.

Biering had a standout performance at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Ethan Bauer and Pool also recorded two hits each.

Against Sedan, Eureka’s momentum came to a halt in the semifinal matchup, as the Tornadoes fell to a strong Sedan squad. The Blue Devils, ranked No. 2 in the regional, capitalized early and never looked back, ending Eureka’s postseason run.

Against Fredonia

Eureka faced Fredonia in their final home game matchup on Monday, May 12. The Tornadoes fell to the Yellowjackets 6-20 and 11-22.
