In front of family, coaches, and teammates, Eureka senior Trinity Samuels officially signed her letter of intent last Wednesday, April 14, to continue her softball career at Hesston College. The Lady Tornado will join the Larks this fall, fulfilling a dream she’s held since she was 14 years old.

Samuels plans to compete for a spot at shortstop or second base on the Hesston roster. She said the college’s team culture and coaching staff were key factors in her decision.

“What stood out to me about the school was definitely their culture and coaching, but they also have a very good nursing program,” said Samuels, who plans to major in nursing.

With years of dedication to the game behind her, Samuels reflected on why softball continues to be a passion. “I love the sport because of the atmosphere and the relationships I’ve built within the sport,” she said.

Eureka Head Softball Coach Scott Miller commented that, “She (Samuels) is a great example of how working hard for a goal pays off.”

Samuels is the daughter of Shawna Shepherd and Cris Samuels and Rebecca Randall, all of Eureka. She is the granddaughter of Jerry Samuels of Eureka, Sherry Griffitts of Dearing, and Becky Shepherd and the late Mike Shepherd of Eureka.
