Hughes Placed Third At Chanute
Eureka golfers faced mixed results in recent tournaments as they prepare for Class 2A Regionals in less than a week.
Tornado sophomore Mason Hughes claimed hardware at the Humboldt Tournament, in Chanute on Tuesday, May 6, after shooting a 91. Sophomore Easton Mead followed closely with a 98, finishing 9th. Senior John Noll rounded out the scores with a 128.
At the Fort Scott Invitational on May 8, Hughes shot a 95 to finish 16th out of 51 competitors and fellow sophomore Tyson Coon finished with a 151.
Earlier in the week, the junior varsity (JV) team hosted a JV scramble, where Mead and Coon placed seventh with a 9-hole round of 43. Noll and Werner were 11th with a 46.

Eureka heads to the 2A Regional Tournament hosted by Erie High School at Prairie Ridge Golf Course on May 19.
