Schulte Family To Give Back

After 62 days of being in the NICU at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kayla and Anthony Schulte of Ark City were able to take their first child, a son, home recently.

Kasen Paul Schulte was born on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 2:31 p.m., weighing 3 pounds, 5 ounces. He was born at 29 weeks, five days, after his mother Kayla, a former West Elk graduate, suffered preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome.

Kasen is the grandson of Chris and Melody Lynam and Michael and Maria Schulte, all of Ark City. He is the great-grandson of Esiquio and Connie Avalos of Howard.

The Schultes are planning a special Monterey dinner to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House, which they were so grateful for during Kasen’s two-month NICU stay.

The date for the fundraiser is TBD, however will be held at her grandparent’s restaurant, Sweet & Spicy, located at 1229 KS-99, in Howard.

Those unable to travel to Howard, but willing to donate, can take donations to The Eureka Herald, located at 822 E. River St., Ste 100, PO Box 590, Eureka, KS 67045.
