Community Benefit Women’s Educational Club

The Community Benefit Women’s Educational Club (WEC) Greenwood County held their monthly meeting at the Piedmont Community Center, in Piedmont, on April 17, at noon with a salad/dessert luncheon. Hostess was Zelma Samuels. Roll call was answered by fifteen members and one guest sharing an April Fool’s Day memory. “Get Well” cards were signed for two members who were unable to attend.

The program was presented by Alisha Fisher, Family and Community Wellness agent for Greenwood County. Her presentation was entitled “Cooking for One or Two.” Topics covered included using Use My Plate to help guide your food choices, plan for more convenient and economical cooking, and stock your pantry, refrigerator and freezer and use your leftovers/“planned -overs” creatively. Discussion followed with Fisher and members sharing ideas that worked for them.

The Red Cross Blood Drive is scheduled for June 10, at Eureka Methodist Church. Appointments can be made by calling 1-800-733-2767 or on-line at www.redcross.org. This group has played a role in blood drives for many years. Pies will be donated by several members for this blood drive.

The next meeting will be May 15, at 1441 30th Street, Severy.
