The Madison/Virgil USD 386 board of education meets on the second Monday of each month. The following report was generated from the unofficial minutes, which are subject to board approval.
The Madison/Virgil USD 386 Board of Education (BOE) meeting was held at 7 p.m. on April 14. The March regular meeting minutes, agenda, PAWS minutes and December through April Recreation minutes were approved. Also approved were Current Accounts Payable totaling $148,189.59, Treasurer’s Report and the Activity Fund Report.
Aaron Luthi discussed the LifeWise Academy Junior High survey update.
The board approved to accept the resignations of Dacia Brandt as Food Service director/Testing Coordinator, Molly Buster as Black and Gold director, and Carter Cox as Science instructor.
Jalynn Weakley presented the senior trip itinerary. The board approved out of state travel for the senior trip.
Amy Hind made a motion to approve the 20252026 calendar as amended to reflect the correct Easter weekend. Jennifer Watts seconded the motion. The motion carried, 5 yes, 1 no with Ty Gaines voting no to the calendar as a whole.
Other board approvals included accepting the non-resident enrollment/ open enrollment information as presented and moving the June meeting to June 16 The board heard an update on Food Service.
Discussion was held regarding maintenance, Legislative news, KASB renewal, MES activities and MJSHS activities.
Two Executive Sessions were held totaling one hour to discuss personnel matters of non-elected personnel with the board and administration. After returning to open session, it was approved to hire Haley Isch as the Pre-K teacher from the 2025-26 school year.
Two Executive Sessions were also held, totaling 35 minutes, to discuss the teacher contract with the board and superintendent present. No decisions were made after returning to open session.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:01 p.m. The next meeting of the Madison/ Virgil USD 386 BOE will be held on May 12 at 7 p.m.
