Toronto News -

April Showers!?! Many times it was a blinding downpour! I’ve heard varying amounts of rain from 3” to 6”. We needed the rain, but, I don’t think we wanted it all at once and more is predicted for this coming week.

It’s getting close to time to break out the row boats, pontoons and rubber dinghys. Hopefully, we never get the amount of rain that fell in La Reunion, France in the 24-hours from Jan. 7 to 8, 1966. They got 71.8”!!! That is a world record for a 24-hour period. Not something anybody wants to break anytime soon.

I have a ‘Dad’ joke I just have to share: What do you call 10 rabbits walking backwards in a row?

Hello to all in area nursing and assisted living facilities. Hello also to all in area hospitals and rehab centers.

We offer our sympathy to all who lost loved ones this past week. May they all rest in peace.

Coming home from Wichita Friday I noticed the north side of Highway 54 through the Flint Hills had been burned off also. With all the rain we’ve had and the little bit of sunshine on Monday, that area will be pretty this week.

Wade came through his surgery, which turned out to by a quadruple bypass instead of a triple. The surgeon said everything went fine. I was joking with Wade Friday that he had been put back together with super glue and duct tape. That’s what it looked like. It was a form of glue with a mesh strip over it. He’ll be in the hospital for several more days yet.

The annual Easter Egg Hunt was moved to the Memorial Park on Main Street Toronto last Saturday due to all the rain. There was a good turnout for it as well as the first “Breakfast with the Easter Bunny.” We all know that weather doesn’t affect the kids hunting eggs, it’s the adults that it bothers.

Answer: A receding hare line!

This is National Volunteer Week for Fire, EMS and Rescue! If you see any of these fine folk this week tell them what a great job they have been doing.
