West Elk Patriot Softball Split With Flinthills Mustangs

The West Elk Patriots traveled to Rosalia last Tuesday, April 8 to battle the Mustangs of Flinthills.

West Elk’s Lady Patriots struggled in game one, after falling behind 2-4 in the second. The Lady Patriots were able to score two more runs before the end of the game, but allowed four more Mustang runs and concluded the first game 4-8. Scoring for the Patriots were Maggie Denton, Emily Mott, Callie Cummings and Hailey McKitton In the second game, the Patriots trailed 1-4 after three and were down 3-8 after the fifth inning. However, the sixth inning was all the Patriots as they made it through their line up and added six runs of their own to claim the lead.

Both teams rallied in the seventh, but it was the Patriots who came away with the 12-11 victory.

West Elk’s baseball team lost game one 3-9 and won game two 15-2. Additional details were unavailable at the time of publication.

West Elk will host Central on April 21 and Erie on April 28. Games are slated to begin at 4:30 p.m.
