Toronto News

Spring is officially here and it sure looks like Spring. The area is coming back to life! And, coming up next is Easter. The annual Easter Egg Hunt is always fun. It only takes a few minutes for the kids to gather up all the goodies, but it is fun to watch.

What is “quagswagging?” Saturday was a busy day in Toronto. There was a hunter safety class being held at the Mason’s building on Main Street, there was a clean, update and repair on trails at Toronto Point and the United Methodist Church hosted their annual St. Patrick’s Day Potato Bar that evening.

I was unable to attend those events, as much as I like spring and would have liked to have gone, the seasonal allergies had me down for the count that day. Our friend Sandy DeLucia picked up dinner for us at the Potato Bar dinner and took some pictures for me.

There was a good turnout for all these events. I saw several pictures of the work being done at the lake on the trails and it was standing room only at the potato bar. Grace Stacy entertained the crowd at the Toronto Senior Center playing songs on a keyboard.

Hello to all in area nursing and assisted living facilities. Hello also to all in area hospitals and rehab centers.

We offer our sympathy to all who lost loved ones this past week. May they all rest in peace.

Answer: Moving from side to side.

With spring being here, it’s also pasture burning season, as you may have already noticed. This is a necessary event that has been taking place for hundreds of years. Indigenous people burned grasslands years before white men came along. Let’s hope there are no wildfires and nobody burns with the wind too high and everyone keeps the fires under control.

The countryside looks so beautiful after the burns when the green grass starts growing.

It’s getting close to the time to start cleaning up yards for the year. Mowing season will begin soon. When mowing, please don't mow down dandelions and other similar flowers/weeds. The honeybees need this flowers. I keep hearing about the declining number of honeybees. We all need to do our part and protect them.

Honeybees are essential to our survival as they are by far the best pollinators for all plants. Not to mention the amazing honey they make.
