Toronto News

- by Kathy Cummings

Boy, oh boy, did the wind ever blow Friday! Limbs were snapping off trees, trampolines went airborne, trash cans blew away as did anything not tied down in the yard. But as bad as we had it in Toronto with the wind, we were lucky to not have any fires.

Our neighbors to the east, in Yates Center, didn’t fare so well. The nursing home was destroyed in a raging inferno. Luckily no one was seriously injured.

What does “Absquatulate” mean?

We offer our sympathy to the families of Sheila Houchin, Lyle Sherwood, and Joyce Vanhaverbeke. We offer our sympathy to all others who lost loved ones this past week. May they all rest in peace.

Plans for Toronto Days are in full swing with several changes this year. The two biggest changes are mud volleyball has been moved to 10 a.m. and the “block party” which includes the parade, vendors, street dance, car show, games and food at 6 p.m.

Answer: Leave abruptly. Crazy weather again for all this week. Spring begins Thursday and that coincides with stormy weather. Please be safe when it’s windy. No outside fires as we are still in red flag warnings.
