Area Wrestlers Competed At Kids State

A total of 11 area wrestlers traveled to Topeka last weekend for the USAWKS 2025 State Folkstyle Championships, with three claiming hardware.

Eureka Wrestling Club’s (EWC) Harlie Owings and Elk County Wrestling’s (ECW) Hendrix Ellsbury and Kash Bidwell claimed hardware. Bidwell placed fourth and Owings and Ellsbury placed fifth.

Following are the individual match wins for EWC and ECW participants: Eureka Wrestling Club 10U Girls 70: Brynlee Ashlock went 2-2 for the weekend. She won a 3-0 decision over Ellie Schridde (Great Bend) and won a 10-3 decision over Kate Flinn (Atchison).

12U Girls 110: Adleigh Ray went 1-2 for the weekend. She won a 2-0 decision over Hadley Morgan (Paola).

High School Girls 125: Maela Neill went 1-2 for the weekend. She won a 3-0 decision over Audrey Hinkly (Thunderbird).

High School Girls 170: Harlie Owings placed 5th, going 3-2 for the weekend. She received a bye in the opening round, won by fall over Carbon Frazier (De Soto Kids) (Fall 0:50); won by fall over Paige Ferrara (Burlington) (Fall 2:13); and won by fall over Stefania Aranguiz (SC Punisher) (Fall 3:27).

Elk County Wrestling 8U Girls 45: Hendrix Ellsbury placed 5th, going 3-2 for the weekend. She won by fall over Sharleen Miller (Paola) (Fall 0:40); won by fall over Makynlea Charland (Junction City) (Fall 2:32); and won by fall over Brees Allen (Stanton Cnty Trojans) (Fall 1:57).

12U Girls 85: Autumn Love went 1-2 for the weekend. She won a 5-1 decision over Tymber Charbonneau (Clay County).

12U Girls 110: Lakin Love went 2-2 for the weekend. She won by fall over Allyson Groves (Olathe Raptor) (Fall 3:45); and won by forfeit over Kaci Riffel (Abilene).

14U Girls 101: Emma Baumgartel went 1-2 for the weekend. She won a 10-0 major decision over Emersyn Chase (SC Punisher).

8U 110: Tristen Mast went 1-2 for the weekend. He won an 8-1 decision over Paxton Guernsey (Wellsville).

10U 79: Kash Bidwell placed 4th, going 3-2 for the weekend. He won a 6-4 decision over Koen Miller (Norton); won an 11-0 major decision over Luke Maier; and won an 11-8 decision in sudden victory - 1 over Koen Miller (Norton) (SV-1 11-8).

Also representing ECW were Pyper Ford, 12U Girls 120; and Jayce Baumgartel, 8U 40.
