The Howard City Council meets bimonthly on the first and third Mondays of the month. The following report was generated from the official minutes of the Feb. 3 meeting, which were approved during their most recent meeting on March 3. The council meeting slated for Feb. 19 was canceled due to weather.
Mayor Richard Clark called the Feb. 3 meeting to order with council members Martin Hunter, Shilo Crupper, Derek Cookson, Jerrad Pope and Gary Harrod present. Also present was City Clerk Joanna Hunter.
The council approved the Jan. 20 meeting minutes; payment of city bills $85.504.70; $27,813.78 disbursal to the City Library for their portion of Jan. 24 tax disbursement; as presented.
The council also approved to hire Seamless Guttering for a gutter, downspout, and leaf guard on the Cox Community Building awning for a estimated $1,108.
A $100 donation was approved for the West Elk After Prom.
The council also approved City Clerk J. Hunter to attend the upcoming CCMFOA and KDHE classes. Carried 5-0 A request for an MMI estimate was approved to resurface seven blocks on Illinois from Perry to Oak, five blocks of Walnut from Washinton to Elk, and two blocks on Plum from Washington to Adams. Clerk J. Hunter shared that MMI noted their cost per square foot was $2.15 for a 3” overlay. The council asked for an estimate to cover those areas noted above, as well as to get on MMI’s schedule.
Other discussions included: downspout discharge for new Cox guttering; Possible additional blocks that could be added to the street resurfacing if budget permits; Winter weather affecting gas prices; Traffic signs; Water tower annual inspection report; Employee CDL licensing.
The meeting adjourned at 7:59 p..m.
