Seven Elk County Wrestling (ECW) Cobras punched their ticket to kids state on Saturday, March 8, by placing in the top four in their weight brackets at the USAWKS 2025 District 2 Championships, in Mulvane.
ECW will be represented at the state contest by, pictured from left to right, Jayce Baumgartel, Hendrix Ellsbury, Emma Baumgartel, Pyper Ford, Lakin Love, Kash Bidwell and Tristen Mast.
These seven will travel to Topeka this weekend, Friday-Saturday, March 14-15 for the state contest.
Following are the individual match wins for ECW participants: 8U Girls 45: Hendrix Ellsbury placed 1st. She won by fall over Addalyn Seeley (Independence) (Fall 0:16); won by fall over Brynna Rosenhamer (Wichita Blue Knights) (Fall 0:53); won by fall over Ruby Ciesielski (Carroll) (Fall 0:28); and won by fall over Lux Willhite (Bluestem) (Fall 0:15).
8U Girls 55: Axl Ellsbury placed 5th. She won by fall over Stella Ewing (Augusta) (Fall 0:30).
8U 40: Jayce Baumgar-tel placed 4th. He won a 12-9 decision over Grayson Skapik (Winfield).
8U 49: Flint Pope placed 6th. He won a 16-1 tech fall over Robert Kennedy (Chanute); won a 17-1 tech fall over Victor Frayre (Alpha); and won by fall over Jettsyn Harris (Parson) (Fall 1:32).
8U 110: Tristen Mast placed 3rd. He won by forfeit over Braxton Thomas (Red Devil).
10U 79: Kash Bidwell placed 2nd. He won by fall over Harrison Fagan (Mulvane) (Fall 0:49); won an 8-3 decision over Raul Rueda (Alpha); and won by fall over Beau Baxter (Andover) (Fall 1:44).
10U 79: Maverick Ford placed 6th. He won a 10-1 major decision over Camden Prier (Mulvane); won an 11-2 major decision over Harrison Fagan (Mulvane); and won an 8-5 decision in sudden victory - 1 over Clay AraSmith (Circle).
12U Girls 85: Autumn Love placed 5th. She won by fall over Alyssa Brunke (Wichita Blue Knights) (Fall 2:59); and won a 15-0 tech fall over Allison Mellen (Clearwater).
12U Girls 110: Lakin Love placed 3rd. She won a 5-4 decision over Ember Friend (Iola Kids); won by fall over Lydiah Waltermire (Red Devil) (Fall 3:55) and won a 9-8 decision over Adleigh Ray (Eureka).
12U Girls 120: Pyper Ford placed 4th. She won by fall over Graycee Gobel (Circle) (Fall 3:24); and won an 18-0 tech fall over Kendall Freeman (Team of Hard Knox).
14U Girls 101: Emma Baumgartel placed 3rd. She won by fall over London Pourner (Wellington) (Fall 3:53); won by fall over Emersyn Chase (South Central Punisher) (Fall 1:00); and won by fall over London Pourner (Wellington) (Fall 2:38).
14U Girls 165: Haylee Knight placed 6th. She won by fall over Kahlan Kitson (Maize) (Fall 1:16); won by fall over Charlee Reese (ElDorado) (Fall 1:57).
Also representing ECW at the District 2 Championships were Taybor Galvan, 10U 110; Raylan Wunderlich, 12U 140; Kyler Wunderlich, 12U 165; and Landon Wunderlich, High School 175.
