Three EHS Students Inducted Into National Honor Society
2025 Eureka Chapter Members Of The National Honor Society

Three Eureka Junior/ Senior High School students were inducted to the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society last Wednesday, Feb. 26.

Those students being inducted for 2025 were: juniors Harlie Owings and Addison Westerman and sophomore Ellianna Coulter.

Following a candle ceremony, the new inductees read the pledge and signed into the Eureka chapter.

To be inducted into the National Honor Society, students must be sophomores, juniors or seniors and apply for the honor through Señora Hall.

Students must maintain a required 3.4 or higher cumulative GPA. Staff members who have had candidates in grades 9-12 are given a rubric to rate the candidate in the areas of character and leadership. Each student must have a minimum of five rubrics, or it goes to the NHS Committee for final selection.

When all the candidates have been rated and the score sheets returned, the scores are averaged and placed on the candidate master checklist. Those candidates who receive an average rating below 4.0 rounded to the nearest tenth in the area of character and leadership, will be denied acceptance. The rating rubrics for each candidate are available for viewing by the candidate and/or their parent/guardian upon request.

Those candidates who submit an essay that meets the requirements, have 4.0 rubric ratings for leadership and character, and a 3.4 or higher cumulative grade point average will gain membership into the National Honor Society.
