The Eureka High School boys played the Fredonia Yellowjackets last Monday night, Feb. 17 in a make-up game for an earlier scheduled one that was postponed due to weather. The Tornadoes, who shot poorly from the field, especially in the first half, were beaten by the hot-shooting Jackets 36-65.
The game began with a rough first quarter for the Tornadoes, who couldn’t buy a basket while the Fredonia squad seemingly couldn’t miss. The first quarter ended with the Eureka squad trailing by 21 points. The Tornadoes shot better in the second quarter but the Jackets still couldn’t miss. At halftime, the score was 22-50. The second half was much better but, the Tornadoes were still outscored by one, leading to the final deficit of 29 points. Tyson Coon led the Tornadoes with 15 points, followed by Easton Mead and Peyton Hare with 4, and Kotah Davis, Laken Valentine, Cole Ptacek, and Tanner Biering all with 3 each. Brody Mitchell added a free throw to end the scoring for the Tornadoes.
